Fire Island is Fabulous!
Since yesterday's trip to the beach was such a success, Mommy, Daddy and I decided to try the ocean today. It was beautiful out, and not too hot, so we thought we'd take a trip down to Fire Island.
There were many nice doggies on the ferry over, which was excellent. The boat ride was really fun, but Mommy and Daddy wouldn't let me jump over the side like I wanted to.
When we got there, we spent a little time walking around and enjoying the beautiful island. Then I spotted the water and wouldn't stop screaming until Mommy and Daddy took me down to the beach.
I didn't even wait to take off my shoes before I headed right in to the water, pulling Daddy in with me.
I tried to go in pretty deep, so Daddy kept having to pull me back out again.
Those big waves didn't scare me one little bit!
Look at what a beautiful day it was at the beach! And what a gorgeous beach! There were not too many people out as we were there early. So we had the whole place pretty much to ourselves (with a few sunbathers).
Here I am ready to take on the waves.
Then I discovered that this beach wasn't made of rocks... it's SAND!!!
Good thing I brought along my trusty pail and shovel. All this sand wasn't going to shovel itself!
Mommy showed me a fun new game, too. Where did Robbie's leg go???
Here, Mommy. Have some sand.
Mommy took me back in the water when I realized that I was now covered in sand -- what a disaster! I didn't wait for the waves to come in to me - I wanted to go right out to them!
Mommy kept me far enough back, though. (Even though I struggled to get free and jump in.)
It is a lot harder filling your bucket with water at the ocean beach!
Here I am looking pretty pleased with my many aquatic accomplishements this weekend!
Now that Mommy and Daddy have discovered that I like water more than fish do, maybe it's time for some swimming lessons...

It looks like someone else inherited the ocean/beach loving gene! What a fun weekend you guys had.
How I envy you living so close to the ocean! Swimming lessons sound like a great idea! Your mom started lessons when she was 6 months old!
Yeah, and Aunt Kate had to teach herself!
But Brayton has been taking leasons now, and loves it! Even doesn't mind having his head wet.
