Fire Island is Fabulous!

Since yesterday's trip to the beach was such a success, Mommy, Daddy and I decided to try the ocean today. It was beautiful out, and not too hot, so we thought we'd take a trip down to Fire Island.

There were many nice doggies on the ferry over, which was excellent. The boat ride was really fun, but Mommy and Daddy wouldn't let me jump over the side like I wanted to.

When we got there, we spent a little time walking around and enjoying the beautiful island. Then I spotted the water and wouldn't stop screaming until Mommy and Daddy took me down to the beach.

I didn't even wait to take off my shoes before I headed right in to the water, pulling Daddy in with me.

I tried to go in pretty deep, so Daddy kept having to pull me back out again.
Those big waves didn't scare me one little bit!
Look at what a beautiful day it was at the beach! And what a gorgeous beach! There were not too many people out as we were there early. So we had the whole place pretty much to ourselves (with a few sunbathers).
Here I am ready to take on the waves.

Then I discovered that this beach wasn't made of rocks... it's SAND!!!
Good thing I brought along my trusty pail and shovel. All this sand wasn't going to shovel itself!

Mommy showed me a fun new game, too. Where did Robbie's leg go???

Here, Mommy. Have some sand.

Mommy took me back in the water when I realized that I was now covered in sand -- what a disaster! I didn't wait for the waves to come in to me - I wanted to go right out to them!

Mommy kept me far enough back, though. (Even though I struggled to get free and jump in.)

It is a lot harder filling your bucket with water at the ocean beach!

Here I am looking pretty pleased with my many aquatic accomplishements this weekend!

Now that Mommy and Daddy have discovered that I like water more than fish do, maybe it's time for some swimming lessons...

Here I am enjoying the waves on Long Island Sound.
Sorry the video is sideways, Mommy couldn't figure out how to fix that.

Swimming at Cedar Beach

Mommy, Daddy, and I have gone to Cedar Beach in Mt. Sinai many times before (it's really near our house!), but this is the first time they have taken me there to go swimming!

They weren't sure how I would react to the waves, so Daddy took me in very slowly and carefully.
But I wasn't scared at all! I loved it, and I was ready to jump right in.

Daddy had to hold me back - I tried over and over to break free and dive in head first.
Finally I got Daddy to take me in the deep part! What fun!

Back on shore, I tried to get away again so that I could go in deeper.

So Daddy took me back out.

After a while, I came up on the beach to play with the stones. I sure do love to dig.

Mommy was very interested to see my expert technique in getting stones into a pail.

I filled pail after pail with little stones.
It was so much fun!
After a while, I realized that I had sand and stones all over my feet! Yuck!
So I made Daddy take me back in the water to get clean. Of course, I brought my pail and shovel with me so I could try scooping water into the pail.

What an excellent time we had!

Cedar Beach Playground

After spending some time on the beach today, we went to the playground at Cedar Beach. I headed straight for the slide.

I slid and slid... I couldn't get enough!!

When Mommy got tired of lifting me onto the slide, she and Daddy took me to the tube.

HA! If I sit directly in the middle, you can't reach me from either side!!!
Then Daddy took me to swing. And we all know how I feel about swings. :)

After a good bit of swinging, I sat in the sand with Daddy to do more digging. The whole playground there is like one big sandbox!

Finally, I got up and went exploring on my own.
