Ducks Redux - Robert's "First Baseball Game"

I use "first baseball game" in quotes because technically, we took him to three games (two Ducks, one Norwich Navigators) last summer, but he was too small to have any idea what was going on, so they don't count. We got suite tickets courtesy of our friends at the Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook for tonight, and even though we didn't catch much of the game, we caught a lot of other stuff!

When we got in, Emily wanted to take a nice picture of me and Robert, but the little dude was way more interested in what was going on... over there:

...or up there...

...or the other way...

...then he realized he had two bobble-pens (tonight's giveaway item) in his hands...

...and this was as close as we were going to get.

So we bought him a quacker.

Every Sunday is Autograph Day, so down to the field we went.

We met Don McCormick...

...and good old number 29...

...and some other guy.

Manager Dave LaPoint signed Robert's book. LaPoint, then a Cardinals pitcher, threw two scoreless innings in the first baseball game I ever went to as a kid, waaaaay back in 1982. Serendipity or coincidence? You decide. Either way, Robert quacked at him.

Then Robert tried to charge the mound, but I had to remind him that (a) the game hadn't started yet, and (b) he's only 17 months old.

Up to the suite! Except Robert was definitely interested in the concession stand.

Or maybe the field. He's pretty easily distracted.

Up in the suite! Somehow, the camera setting got knocked out of whack again, so everything's all washed out.

A room full of pretzels, potato chips, and all the hot dogs and hamburgers you can eat, and this kid finds the remote control.

Then Robert realized that there was way more interesting stuff going on outside the suite.

And on the ground.

And apparently in the sky.

Hot dogs! The kid loves his hot dogs.

Family picture!

We lasted about three innings before the little dude started acting sleepy. We watched a few batters from the upper deck while Emily went to the restroom, and just as she came back, a foul ball whizzed off some lady's shoulder and bounced right to us! Of course, I had now knocked the camera back out of whack, so I couldn't get the flash to work right.

Robert claims that he caught the ball on a fly, but really, he didn't. He's just a baby.

We then went down to meet Quackerjack, the best mascot in all of minor league baseball. Robert gave him several high-fives and a kiss on the bill.

On the way home, Robert got to throw his new treasure and watch Daddy chase it! What fun!

He then quacked all the way home.

Literally.

New Playground!

Mom & Dad took me to a new playground they just built in Mount Sinai. It's awesome! They have a cool little slide that was just my size!

I got to run around... a lot.

I had to call Elmo on my phone to tell him all about my awesome day!

Hold On, I'm Checking My E-mail

After months of begging, Dad finally bought me my own Palm Pilot, so I can check my e-mail wirelessly, just like he and Mom do.

Mom says I'm a typical guy, with electronic devices in each hand.
