Wildwood State Park

Wildwood State Park is a quick fifteen-minute drive from our house, but for some reason, we hadn't been there in the eight or so years we've been living in this area of the world. So today we went there for a picnic. They have a nice playground:

With a digger:

And of course, a swing set:

Grandma and Claire enjoyed the bench and a nice book.

Daddy crossed the monkey bars...

...and Robert played tic-tac-toe.

Claire wasn't impressed.

Then we had a nice picnic:

And then it was on to the beach, which was pretty deserted. (Actually, the whole park was pretty quiet, which was bizarre for an 80-degree Saturday in April.)

Robert enjoyed tossing rocks into the water.

(You can see below one of his many handfuls of pebbles, flying into the sea.)

Robert took a few moments to explore the big rocks:

Robert wanted to take a picture of Mommy, but he couldn't quite figure out the camera:

So he gave the camera back to Mommy instead:

Completely exhausted, we staggered back to base camp for some bubbles.

What a great day we had! I'm sure we'll see lots more Wildwood this summer.

Hangin' With Grandpa Tom & Grandma Kathy

Emily's dad and Kathy came to visit for a few days, and the crew all went out to see the Montauk lighthouse on a blustery spring day:

The next day, they visited the aquarium... and dug:

...and visited the koi pond...

...and the enormous turtle. (Thanks to Emily for taking this picture, which I think is awesome.)

Easter 2009

Lots of fun with the Bunny this year. He hid eggs all over the living room:

And brought a pack of bubble wands!

Emily made The EB brought a lovely bunny hat for Claire, too.

Aaaand... glasses:

First we visited with Chris's mom:

Then Emily's mom helped Lauren learn how to cook:

Nanny and Pop-Pop brought Robert a bubble mower:

And Claire a little duck, which she loved:

A Few Pre-Easter Photos

Claire has finally discovered her hands, and by extension, a rattle.

She's not so good at getting it into her mouth yet, though:

Grandma bought us a new vacuum today. Well, Robert is pretty sure it's for him. As we know, he's long been obsessed with the vacuum (see here, here, and here), and, well... he was beyond thrilled.

Claire was not as impressed, but she was happy to spend some time with Grandma:

A boy and his vacuum. I'd swear, you'd think we bought a puppy, or a Joe Schlabotnik baseball card or something. But no. It's a vacuum. Yes, he's three.

We finally tore him away from the vacuum long enough to dye some eggs.

Baby Claire was... well, not impressed with that either.

But Robert was proud of his work.

Robert then read Claire an Easter story:

And before bed, laid out some carrots for EB:

Coming tomorrow... Easter baskets!
