Vacation, Days 1 & 2

Well, we're finally on the road, and here's the first update. Got the hotel late yesterday, and Robert really loves it, running from room to room (we have a suite) playing with everything. We spent last evening visiting some of our friends in southern Jersey, but this morning, it was time to go to Elmo's house Sesame Place! Here are Em and Robert inside the main entrance:

Our first stop was the new carousel. Ordinarily, Robert's a big fan of carousels -- and we loved the Muppet horses -- but he was a little overwhelmed at first and didn't feel like riding, so we sat instead:

After the carousel came a visit to Bert & Ernie's place, at Rubber Duckie Pond.

Then it was off to see Grover!

As we looked out from the teacups, Robert saw a friend of his posing nearby for photos, so we HAD to run run run over there and see!

It's Abby!

When approached for the first time by the larger-than-life Sesame Street character, Robert was more than a little apprehensive:

Around the corner from Abby was Elmo:

And Robert wasn't so sure about him either:

He stopped squirming long enough for a quick photo. Sort of.

Overheated, we figured it was time to get wet again... so we journeyed off to Little Bird's Birdbath and the Count's Fount:

Even though it was well over eighty degrees today, someone was pretty drenched and shivering after a long time in the pools.

We floated down Big Bird's Rambling River, where Chris saved a kid from drowning and Robert fell asleep on Emily's lap. Fresh from his floating nap, Robert wanted to check out Ernie's Waterworks:

Then we visited the Twiddlebugs, who kinda suck. But Emily's a fan, so we took a picture anyway.

None of us were impressed with the Twiddlebug area; after the exciting other water adventures, the wave pool was boring, the water was unrefreshingly warm, and the giant Ernie was kinda freaking us out.

Thankfully, it was parade time!

Telly:

Cookie:

"Aaa aaa aaa!" (Translated: "The Count!")

Chris's first Grover sighting of the day:

Oscar:

B&E:

The aforementioned Count:

Big Bird and Prairie Dawn:

Looking for a place to cool off, we visited one of the shops, where Chris found a friend. There's no way Chris walks out of there tomorrow without buying a Grover puppet.

Robert played with Zoe:

And of course, the Count. I think we'll likely bring home a Count also.

Robert... um... well... was pooped.

Refreshed again, we took in Elmo's World Live. I think the only way you can get Emily to sit through this is by providing air conditioning, so that was nice.

He doesn't look impressed in this shot, but he was entranced.

Mr. Noodle's nephew, Mr. Noodle. He looks like nobody else in the Noodle family, so perhaps he's adopted. I hope Ms. Noodle shows up tomorrow.

After the show, Robert got to check out the piano...

...and met Dorothy.

What a day! More tomorrow.
