Not a "Good Mommy"
So I've known for some time that I'm not exactly what you would call a "Good Mommy" - but soes that mean I'm a "Bad Mommy"? I sure hope not, but that's the way it feels sometimes.
So I was really glad to see this wonderful post (read it! It's worth it!) discussing the virtues of maybe not being a "Good Mommy" but instead striving to be a "Strong Mommy." Mary makes a great case for forsaking "Good" Mommyhood, which is nice to read.
When I commented on this post, thanking her for pointing out that not being "Good" doesn't necessarily make you "Bad," she also sent me a nice email, saying:

Several commenters said much the same thing. When I wrote the post, I was writing with "Good Mommies" in mind. It hadn't occurred to me that there would be a bunch of "Strong Mommies" out there who were being true to themselves and their parenting principles, but, surrounded by a Good-Mommy culture, were worrying that because they weren't "Good", they must be "Bad". I'm glad I could offer support and reassurance.Brilliant! Thanks again, Mary!

What constitutes a "good" mommy anyway? That's like striving for normalcy! It’s preposterous. Does a Good mommy = doesn’t beat her kid well drinking hard liquor at 9AM. Who’s to say anyway...?
In my book of “normal” you my sister, you are a very very “good mommy.” Robbie loves you and wouldn’t trade you for even two Peanuts!
(Oh, and yes I came up with and spelled all those big words all by my self)
Where is my picture fix? Damn all these words!
Thanks...
And Robert is sleeping so I can't take any more pictures SO THERE. :P
Thankfully, Mr. Little Dude decided to wake up screaming tonight, so we were able to take pictures after all.
SO THERE.
Thanks for the kind words. From the look of this blog, it seems like you're doing a fine job with that little boy of yours.
